World-class championship course in the hills outside Chiang Mai
Nestled in a valley amidst the San Kamphaeng natural forests, the Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai is widely regarded as one of the finest golf courses in the area. Host of the Asian Tour's Chiang Mai Classic in 2013 and 2014, this award-winning course is a world-class golfing destination. The original 18-hole course, which plays to over 7,500 yards from the back tees, is a real challenge even for professional golfers. Designed by renowned golf course designer Mr. Ron M Garl, it's a beautiful setting for a golf course, with lush green forests and a stunning mountain backdrop.
An additional nine holes, added in 2016, are split into three separate zones, each with its unique character. The pine tree zone is a parkland area, the wetland zone traverses marshes, and the paddy zone is punctuated by rice paddy fields. One of the par-3s features Thailand's only rice paddy green, surrounded by rice fields.
Some of the most memorable holes on the course include the 652-yard 4th on the A Course, the longest par five in Thailand, while the par-4 9th features an island fairway and plays over water twice, making it a stunning yet challenging hole. The 2nd on the B Course, a par 4 at 524 yards, is particularly difficult on the course, doglegging left with water down the entire left side and playing almost like a par 5.
Aside from the excellent golfing experience, Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai offers a range of facilities, including a 4-star resort, international restaurant, and day spa, all amidst the stunning hills of Chiang Mai.
