Attractively set within a valley and surrounded by mountains, the Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club is a course of natural beauty, featuring waterfalls, streams, and meticulous landscaping. Situated on the site of a former fruit orchard just 40 minutes north of downtown Chiang Mai, it's an enjoyable parkland course with links-style elements that's suitable for both amateur and professional golfers.
While this short 6969-yard course, designed by five-time British Open champion Peter Thomson, lacks in distance (there are no black tees for some reason), it makes up for it with clever elements taken from a British links-style course, including bumpy fairways, pot bunkers, and closely mowed areas around the greens.
With strategically placed and high-lipped greenside bunkers on every hole, elevated greens, and water hazards coming into play on most holes, the course rewards accuracy rather than long shots, providing a challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
The 18 holes blend together seamlessly, offering a unique challenge in a natural setting. The clubhouse, while not the highlight of the golf course, provides beautiful views and a range of facilities, including a golfer's terrace, and although there's an onsite golf resort, it caters more to locals than overseas visitors.
Overall, the Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club is a great option for golfers seeking a relaxed day out in natural settings.

Very slow round of golf
Tee time delayed. Caddies delayed. Boggies delayed. People let in on 10th hole. Round took 5,5 hours. We teamed with another 2-ball on 10th hole. Caddies did not know much.Slow play
