About
Popular and enjoyable course with tree-lined fairways and plenty of water
Located just 20 minutes from Chiang Mai amidst mature fruits trees and picturesque lakes, the popular Mae Jo Golf Club features numerous dog-legs, plenty of water, and the odd blind tee shot to present an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities. With many trees lining the fairways, you'll need to hit it straight if you want to score well.
Whilst the course isn't overly daunting for the high handicapper, there is plenty to keep more accomplished players on their toes. The hardest hole is the 15th, a long par-4 where your tee shot from an elevated box must be long enough to reach the corner of the dog-leg to stand a chance of reaching the green in regulation. The downhill approach must avoid the pot bunker placed menacingly in front of the two-tier green.
The clubhouse, designed in the Lanna style, is simple and functional rather than luxurious, contains an excellent restaurant with views over the course and is populated with friendly and attentive staff. When you add all this to a well-designed course that benefits from the careful attention of the maintenance crew, it's easy to understand the popularity of Mae Jo Golf Club.
Reviews
The course in quite ok with nice water around and bunkers but overall no real beauty in the garden.
Very slow tempo during all the 18 holes round, almost 3 flights on same hole, long wait after each shot, no caddy master to manage. But excellent caddy trying to make fun for this situation. Not a recommendation
I still like the setting of the course and all the nice gardens, but this course can not be recommended. Even though I asked via phone, greens still suffer from the last maintenance, club house is under construction, my caddy had only been working 4 weeks and could not find the balls or drive the car. The course would be easy to walk, but for non members the cart was an obligation. Too expensive for the quality you get. Pace of play was good as the locals don't go, golfsaver should have warned us.Average course and facilities
The course was average compared to others in Chiang Mai. The greens were very average along with clubhouse and facilities. Men’s change room had 4 showers with about 20 players waiting to use them.Course Info
